Friday 23rd May we hosted an open air debate in Sammy Marks Square, Pretoria, where the public were encouraged to present their views and opinions on the issue of the increasing use of Nyaope amongst South African Youth. Guest speakers included South African National Council on Alcoholism & Drug Dependence (SANCA), South African Police Service (SAPS), Safer South Africa Foundation, students from Loreto Convent School and the Second Chance Recovery Centre, Mamelodi . The afternoon’s proceedings were well received by a large and participative audience, many of whom were keen to provide views and solutions to the problem as well as challenging the views expressed by some of the speakers. The event formed part of an ongoing drug awareness campaign devised and delivered by students from (Tshwane University of Technology).
